about the massachusetts radiology society resident + fellow section
The Massachusetts Radiological Society Resident Section was started in November of 1997 by Drs. Janet Baum and Peter Gordon from the Massachusetts Radiological Society. Their aim was to involve residents in and educate residents about the Massachusetts Radiological Society and American College of Radiology to encourage their membership and participation as board-certified radiologists.

The Resident and Fellow Section of the Massachusetts Radiological Society focuses on concerns and issues important to the residents and fellows in Massachusetts during their training in diagnostic and therapeutic radiology programs. It is free to join and easy to become involved.

The section is driven by the ideas and interests of its members. Forums have been organized in the spring and fall as a means to learn more about aspects of Radiology which are not typically part of training programs. Topics we have chosen in the past include: Keys to Obtaining a Fellowship, The Radiology Job Hunt, Strategies for Passing the Boards, and Business Aspects of Radiology. Participating in the section provides an opportunity to meet with residents from across Massachusetts and exchange ideas as well as meet with some of the more senior members of the MRS, which is the state chapter of the American College of Radiology. These interactions provide a chance to learn about different practice environments and how things are done at other training programs. There are opportunities for networking and exposure to potential job opportunities. Experiences in the Section also allow for more understanding of and participation in the political process — which is becoming increasingly important in today’s constantly changing health care environment.
