From the desk of the MRS RFS President:

The 2006-2007 year has been productive and exciting for the Resident and Fellow Section of the Massachusetts Radiological Society.  At our monthly meetings we continue to have active participation of a core group of residents from Boston-area hospitals.  In addition, residents from the University of Massachusetts and Lahey Clinic have also been very involved.  Our meetings have been held at different hospitals throughout the city in order to encourage greater participation.  We have had very lively discussions regarding the DRA, the future of AFIP and other resident-related issues.  In October the annual recruitment drive was held at Jillian’s.  This was very successful, with almost fifty residents and fellows in attendance.

The Massachusetts Resident and Fellow Section continues to have a large presence at the national level. Approximately ten residents and fellows attended the 2006 meeting this past May.  This is largely due to the generosity and commitment of the members of the Massachusetts Radiological Society and through the support of the respective Program Directors.  With this support, we hope to continue this tradition in 2007.  A number of resident members have already expressed interest in attending the upcoming meeting.

This spring I am planning the annual Educational Spring Forum (date to be announced) that will address the job search and job opportunities in radiology.  In addition I am hoping to hold a forum on business perspectives as residents have expressed interest in this topic.  I am also planning to hold a preparatory meeting before we leave for Washington D.C.

The Massachusetts Resident and Fellow section remains active at both the local and national levels.  We look forward to continuing our involvement in organized radiology and to educating residents and fellows about the activities and roles of the College.  As President, on behalf of the Resident and Fellow members, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for the continued supports and generosity of Dr. Kornguth and all of the Massachusetts Radiological Society members.
